Fitting In
As I reach for the last chocolate chip cookie and wipe the crumbs off my belly, I wonder how I’ll regain my pre-pregnancy body. But when I Google “Prenatal Exercise” I only get results for prenatal yoga. At some point I wonder if all the “OM” and yoga stretching is enough of a workout to get back in those skinny jeans.

Tuesdays
Beginning Pilates at First Fit Pilates
Pilates is one of the best exercises to do before, during and after your pregnancy. One of the reasons Pilates and pregnancy go together so well is that Pilates is great for building core strength. If your abdominals, back and pelvic floor (Kegel) muscles are toned, they will support and nurture a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery. Pilates is also a great way to get your figure back after your baby is born. Come to any of the beginning classes at First Fit and you’ll get the instruction you need.

AquaFit at Presidio YMCA
Not your mothers’ water aerobics. This is a great low impact aerobic workout. A challenging group exercise class that focuses on building strength, endurance and coordination. This class is appropriate for recreational athletes so Mom-to-Be will get the workout she needs.

Prenatal Class at The Bar Method (with Childcare!)
The Bar Method integrates the fat-burning format of interval training with muscle-shaping isometrics to quickly and safely reshape the entire body. Its non-impact, one-hour workout targets all major muscle groups and improves posture. The result is a recognizable “Bar Method body” featuring sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat, and elongated thighs.

Prenatal Pilates at LilyPad Studios
This class is designed for pregnant women in all trimesters. The goal is to help maintain strength in preparation for child birth. Post partum women are also encouraged to take this class, as rehabilitating muscles after giving birth are a parallel workout to preparation to childbirth.

Prenatal Pilates at Centered Body
Prenatal classes emphasize strength and flexibility of the pelvic floor muscles as well as keeping fit. The classes are a natural adaptation of Pilates reptorie. Any mother to be can attend after the sixth week of pregnancy with clearance from your doctor. No prior pilates experience necessary.

Pregnancy Workout at Karen Casino Studios
This is a unique program designed to help pregnant women improve comfort and develop body awareness. Women are encouraged to enjoy their changing shape and to develop good posture and breathing habits. In addition to strengthening the key muscles stressed in childbearing (the abdominals and pelvic floor) the gentle flowing movements will stretch, condition and relax the whole body.
