Now is the time for fresh berries and cherries!

Farmers Markets are great and plentiful but if you want the real deal you must head to a “U-Pick” farm.  This will show your kids where all that marvelous, sweet fruit comes from. We’re fortunate in the Bay Area that there are lots of farms nearby.
However, if you’d like your favorite little pair of hands to avoid chemicals there are only a few local, organic farms.  This is the week to get to the U-Pick farms and we’ve laid out your road map.  Happy picking!

U-Pick Berries at Phipps Country Farm
Strawberries are ripe and ready for picking!  Each Spring and Summer we typically have two types of “u-pick” berries: Strawberries and Olallieberries. The Strawberries are ready to pick now and we expect Olallieberries to come shortly.  All our berries are hand-planted and are ever used. The strawberry and olallieberry jams sold in our Country Store are made with these same berries and made right here on the premises.

U-Pick Cherries at Enos Family Farms
During the month of June it’s prime time for cherry picking. Located about 1.5 hours east of San Francisco is Enos Family Farms and their bounty of Certified Organic Cherries.  They have Lapin, Rainier and Sweetheart vartities available at an easy price of $3.50/lb (2 lb. minimum/adult).  They provide the buckets but you’ll want to bring a bag with you to transport the cherries home.  Hurry before the cherry season ends.

U-Pick Organic Berries at Webb Ranch
Open Friday-Sunday from 8:30AM-2:30PM, we offer CCOF and herbicide-free, pesticide-free organic.  Pick direct from our fields at Webb Ranch.  We also have picnic tables (first come), wagons and baskets available. No reservations necessary.

U-Pick Organic Strawberries at Swanton Berry Farm
Swanton Coastways Ranch is going to be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-5pm. The price will be $2.50 per pound again this year.  Containers to put your goodies in are provided for you if you need them but we welcome you to bring your own. It’s often a bit windy along the coast so bring appropriate clothing. We have many attractive areas for relaxing after gathering your fill of berries, so bring a picnic and spend the day with us at one of our ranches.
