Pool Days

Now that Memorial Day has passed summer is officially here!  Or should we say, summer is officially everywhere but here? With summertime highs averaging under 70 degrees it’s sometimes best to leave the fog for a glimpse of sun.   Just don’t forget the sunblock.

EAST BAY
Open Swim Hours at Strawberry Canyon Pool
This little slice of heaven in Berkeley is nestled in the hills. While the kids get a taste of summer you’ll be in awe of the tall, verdant trees towering over you. Strawberry Canyon has a toddler pool outdoors and they make sure the water is warm. The wading pool for little children is about half a foot deep. The kids can also play on the steps leading into the main pool and there are some grassy areas to lay your towels on. Since you have to drive here, you’ll love the ample parking.
Ages: All ages
Time: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Location: Centennial Dr. & Stadium Rim Way, Berkeley, CA 94730
Cost: $8; $5/adult, $3/child. Children under 3 are free.

PENINSULA
Open Swim Hours at Brisbane Community Pool
Moms who are in the know about this pool don’t want to share the info – it’s that good! You don’t have to cross a bridge since it’s only about a quick drive from the city. The water is heated to a comfortable 79-81 degrees, there is a huge grass area with leisure seating and a shade structure with picnic tables. Need a place to throw a birthday party? You can rent the entire facility out and you get a large area with plenty of picnic tables under a gazebo. Little swimmers will enjoy the walkway to enter the shallow side of the pool rather than steps. Bring your picnic lunch, some pool toys and some sunscreen and you are set for the day! Summer hours start on June 20th, and the pool will then open at 1pm.
Ages: All ages
Time: 4:00pm – 7:00pm
