Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at the Bay Area Discovery Museum
Join us for a festive, family-friendly celebration of Cinco de Mayo. This holiday commemorates the victory of a small, poorly armed Mexican militia over the French army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Celebrating bravery against great odds, this is a much bigger holiday north of the border than it is in most of Mexico. Gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the culture and folklore of Mexico through music, dance and traditional crafts. Ballet Folklorico Mexicano de Carlos Moreno, established in 1967, will perform a free outdoor dance performance at 11 a.m. These very talented young people will demonstrate the diverse dances and colorful costumes from throughout Mexico, ranging from the tropical port of Veracruz to the rancheros of Jalisco. This will be followed at noon by the wonderful music of Mariachi Los Cachorros. This youth group will have you shouting.
Ages: 12 months – 5+ years
Time: 10:00am – 5:00pm
Location: 557 McReynolds Road, Sausalito, CA 94965
Cost: $18 admission ($10/adult, $8/child)
