Swim lessons prevent drownings – find a pool in SF
Today I heard the news that the American Academy of Pediatrics has reversed its stance on swim lessons for young children. Previously they thought that kids under age 4 were not able to understand all the risks associated with swimming, even if they enjoyed it or took lessons. Now they are saying swim lessons can prevent drownings in children ages 1-4.
I’ve been thinking about enrolling my daughter in swim lessons. We tried when she was 6 months and it was misery for all. She hated it. By hated it I mean that she screamed the entire time. Every time. But I always thought that we’d try it again when she turned one.
